The New 53z
The new quad-powered 53z is well along at Boston BoatWorks and we expect she’ll splash for sea trials into the chilly waters of Boston Harbor in late April. The largest outboard express cruiser ever, the 53z is expected to be a 50mph boat. Hull number one is being built as the company’s showboat and as with all new MJM models, Bob & Mary Johnstone have plans to cruise the boat this summer making sure this boat and those that come after it meet their high standards for performance and functionality.
Hull number one, ZING, will be equipped with four Mercury Marine Racing 400 series engines. As if that bank of horsepower with its attendant joystick, Skyhook station-keeping etc, weren’t as much fun as one skipper could handle, we’ve also outfitted the boat with Humphree Interceptor trim tabs and the roll-stopping comfort of a standard Seakeeper 9 gyro stabilizer.
Hull one will feature dual master suites each with its own easy chair, double berth, head with glass-enclosed shower and combo desk/dressing table. With a pile of decorative throw pillows, the starboard cabin doubles as a TV lounge. The 32″ smart TV is also set up as a computer monitor. Best office on the planet!
Can’t wait ‘til the official commissioning (July 8th)? Why should you? Talk to your dealer and make a date to visit the shop floor at Boston BoatWorks where the magic is happening right now. Or, arrange for an inspection/sea trial the week of June 25th in Newport.
